Kaipara Coast Sculpture Gardens
Outdoor sculpture gallery along a one kilometre walking trail
LOCATION:
1481 Kaipara Coast Highway, Kaukapakapa |
Kaipara Coast Sculpture Gardens is a unique sculpture trail set in a tranquil, rural, garden oasis, and is a fun, inspiring, contemporary art and garden experience for all ages. Planting in the gardens started in 1994, and the Sculpture Trail was opened in 2008.
Against the backdrop of the Kaipara Harbour, the trail winds through a secluded valley containing a slice of almost every type of iconic New Zealand landscape: mown lawns, fruit tree orchard, grassy slopes, regenerating bush, old farm fences, pine forest, an amphitheatre, vegetable beds and ponds. The exhibition changes in November each year. This year there will be a working artist on site during ARTS in the VILLE: Chris Hutchinson aka 'Chippy' is an illustrator and artist from Auckland, New Zealand. He’s well known for his illustrations of curious creatures that swirl and collide in an abstract world of patterns and vibrant colours. He studied graphic design at AUT where he found a love for analogue printmaking, zine publishing and other forms of graphic outsider art which continue to inform his practice today. After graduating he went on to found the K’ Road based creative studio Inky Palms where he continues to explore his drawing practice and family of surreal creatures. For potential projects or collaborations get in touch at chippydraws@gmail.com Owners David and Geraldine Bayly, Curator Shea O’Neill. Open 7 days 9am to 5pm. SPECIAL LABOUR WEEKEND DEAL!
