South African born, Joanne immigrated to New Zealand in 2002 and has worked as a full-time figurative sculptor since the 1980s. Her work is featured in many mediums, bronze and glass casting, as well as mixed media and extends from miniatures up to large-scale
monuments. Joanne's sculptures are noted for their careful attention to detail. Her works have made their way into many collections around the world. A visit to Joanne’s studio offers insight into the lost wax process for creation of crystal glass as well as bronze casting. Enjoy a behind-the scenes look at the creation of the large bronze sculpture of Sir Keith Park is currently in progress. Many of Joanne’s crystal glass pieces will also be made available in her studio. Her Public sculptures include a larger-than-life-sized sculpture of a race horse. ‘Phar Lap’, which stands at Phar Lap Racetrack in Timaru, NZ as well as a bronze of ‘Sir John Walker winning Olympic Gold’, which stands in Manurewa, Auckland. 'Balance', a life-sized public sculpture of a rooster toppling a chair, takes pride of place in front of the library in the Albany Village on New Zealand’s North Shore.
