Helen Martin & Keith Knewstubb
Karo Creek Garden
Helen and Keith moved to Helensville 15 years ago to establish a large garden. Beginning with nothing but kikuyu-covered paddocks and a few straggly trees, they have transformed their 5 acres into a paradise for birds, insects, spiders, family, friends, themselves, and their menagerie. They’re not expert gardeners or designers and just enjoy making it up as they go along. They love it that the garden has a mind of its own, and take pleasure in the areas that have become established, including native bush, which is now regenerating, lashings of bromeliads, orchards, flower, vegetable and succulent gardens and a lush, Bali-inspired shade house.
