Come & Have a Weave! Join Claire Ellery in the Helensville War Memorial Hall for a fun, hands-on day of weaving and textile adventures! Have a go at a variety of looms and weaving activities, contribute to our communal weavings, or join a workshop between 1–3 pm to create your own woven piece to take home. Claire will be there throughout the day to offer guidance, share ideas and help you get weaving. Drop in, have a play, get creative and see what you can make! Live Raku Demonstration Join us for a live demonstration of the Raku ceramic firing technique & witness the exciting transformational magic of fire & smoke. Watch as pots are fired in a Raku kiln up to 800°C, then removed while glowing hot & decorated with horsehair to create beautiful, unique patterns on the clay's surface. No two pieces are ever quite the same! There will be a limited opportunity to purchase a pot and watch as it is decorated, or even have a go yourself and create your own one-of-a-kind piece! COST: Free to watch. Opportunity to purchase a pot WHEN: Saturday and/or Sunday. TIME: 1 pm (weather permitting). Exact days and times will be confirmed closer to the event*.
